Brooks: Georgia Loss ‘A Big Loss’ for Democrats, Pelosi Has ‘Become a Central Liability’

On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,”New york city Times columnist David Brooks stated that the loss in the Georgia unique election was a significant loss for the Democrats and that Home Minority Leader Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has actually become a drag on people throughout the country.Brooks stated,”

I believe the Georgia loss is a huge loss. I do not think it’s, oh, this is always a Republican district, it’s not such a huge offer. If the Democrats are going to get seats, it’s going to be in upscale, highly informed suburban seats. And this was tailor-made for that, a seat that Trump barely won. Therefore, if after all that’s occurred in the last 4 or five months, they cannot select up the seat, that, to me, is an indictment.”

Brooks included, “It’s first, an indication that there’s limits to being anti-Trump. Second, that the Trump phenomenon was not just a fluke, that it’s based on some deep structural things in the economy that are driving individuals to support the Republicans, some deep structural things in the country, that individuals are very distrustful of government and very distrustful of Washington.”

He continued, “There’s also a sign that the Republicans, despite all that’s occurred, are still thought about the celebration of modification. And if they want modification, they’re still most likely to go to the Republicans.”

Brooks concluded the conversation of Georgia by stating, “And, lastly, it’s a sign the Democratic Celebration is too coherent.”

After the discussion turned to Pelosi, Brooks stated, “I do think, on net, Nancy Pelosi can be a very skillful leader– again, inside, but I do believe she’s ended up being a central liability for individuals around the country. Now, the question will be, OK, if they got rid of Nancy Pelosi as party leader, would the next individual be simply as unpopular? And, potentially, but I think possibly not. And I do think, if you’re a Democrat, you do need to think of, who is presently the face of our celebration?”
